About MetLib

The MetLib conference is the annual gathering of the Metropolitan Libraries Section (MetLib) of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA). The Metropolitan Libraries Section, formerly the International Association of Metropolitan City Libraries (INTAMEL), has held an annual Conference hosted by a different library since 1968.

The Section’s mission is to be a platform for public libraries in cities with a population of 400,000 or more inhabitants. However, libraries may be included if they serve a wide and diverse geographical area with roughly the same population, or if they serve a capital city or major conurbation (merged urban area) with a smaller population. You can read more about MetLib Section on the folowing link: https://www.ifla.org/about-metropolitan-libraries.

This year’s 50th conference will take place at Belgrade City Library, Serbia, from May 13 to May 18, 2018. The theme is “Public libraries and community building”. We will be pleased to welcome you in Belgrade and spend some creative time together!
